I am a natural born citizen of the United States. My parents and siblings are all from Mexico. I was wondering if it was possible for me to obtain and travel on a Mexican passport instead of an American one? Since the hostage situation in India, where the terrorists were searching for Americans, I think it might be safer to travel on a non american passport.True; you need to use your US passport to enter and exit the united states. However, upon arrival at your destination, you can present your US or Mexican passport. For example, if you are flying to Germany (allows visa free travel for Mexican nationals), you would show your US passport at the ticket desk in the US. After exiting the airplane in Germany, present your Mexican passport to customs and "stamp in" to the EU under your Mexican passport.
Lets say you want to then travel to Ukraine (Visa free to US but not Mexican nationals). As you exit the EU to Ukraine, show your Mexican passport to the exiting customs official, and then when you reach Ukrainian customs, put the Mexican passport away and show the US passport.
Having dual nationality and/or using two passports is not illegal. Many dual nationals do this.
Even if you are in a country "stamped in" on your US passport, show your Mexican passport when checking in to a hotel, when exchanging money, or renting a car. It is unlikely that the clerk will check your passport stamp. If they do, show them your other passport with stamp, politely let them know that you are a dual national, and that you prefer to use your Mexican passport because you are worried about terrorism. I'm sure they won't mind. If they do, find a vendor that cares more about your security and give the other vendor your business.Yes. But you must depart from Mexico and arrive back there. Then you can use your US passport to cross back into the States. So you need to keep it with you.You must always use your U.S. passport to leave and enter the United States - it's the law. But if you are a dual-citizen you could probably use your Mexican passport to travel everywhere else in the world if you wanted to. :-)When you enter and exit the United States you MUST use an American passport. If you enter or exit the United States on a foreign passport you can have your US citizenship stripped from you.#If you have any other info about this subject , Please add it free.# |
