Hey guys, I have had my head stuck on joining the Army, until I opened up a bit and noticed all of the opportunities available in the Air Force. I am a bit interested in the Aerial Gunner Apprentice. But what are the chances of getting that job? To me it seems like a job that everybody would want which would make it harder to get? Or am I wrong?
Also, where do you go for Air Force Basic Training?
Any answers would be appreciated!BMT lakland afb texas 9 weeks now they made it longer.
as for your job you kind of get what they give you. unless you go into he guard the your job is what you pick. when i was in bmt 10 years ago the active duty guys got there jobs in like the fourth week i think. some liked what they got some didnt depends on your asvab scores I'm retied from the usaf ... I enjoyed it all the way. I had my basic training in San Antonio for 6 weeks. Bring a country boy the BT was fun. From there i was send to school at Decatur, Illinois, (i hated the weather there) to learn my job.
You be tested and they will tell you from which jobs you can pick. Make sure that you pick the one you want, it hard to change jobs afterward. You can ask for the job you want, but slim chance you get it, if it's not on the list... Well if you wanna wait like 1000 months to leave join the Air Force. I would've stuck with the 1st thought of going ARMY. The Air Force is easier , but the Army has faster promotions , and just as much opportunity. But it depends on the MOS you want , and who offers it . I definitly disagree with the person above. Neither the army or the air force is better than the other, it really depends on what you prefer. The air force is known to have more technical jobs; obviously because the air force works to maintain air planes. Let's not forget the army would not be what it is without the air force defending it from above. The changes of getting a job depend on many things. #1, your ASVAB score. Also, your other qualifications such as your history and physical state. Getting sent to basic takes no longer than it would in the army, it all depends on your job I'm not sure if that is a popular choice or not, but you should def. pick something you know you want and not just settle!! The person above says that the air force is easier...? First of all, the air force is very picky when it comes to their applicants. One of the reasons for this is that the air force has it's own funding, Unlike all of the other branches of military. When is the last time you've seen someone denied from the army? They will basically take anyone with a pulse. Also, the air force and the army are a lot alike in many ways, except you don't see any airman fighting on the ground;hence "AIR FORCE" A big perk about the air force is also their quality of living. Any person in the army will tell you that their barracks are ****. Ask an airman what their's is like!!
BMT is only at one base for the AF, which is Lackland AFB in San Antonio, TX
Hope I helped and good luck!! Go talk to an AF recruiter :)#If you have any other info about this subject , Please add it free.# |
